baaaaah

Tuesday, while we had a brief respite from the rain, Dad and I visited the sheep at the NSAC barn. It was awesome. Here is the result:

happenstance

My photography mentor suggested to me a while back to bring my camera with me everywhere I go, because you just never know what may cross your path. Well, last night I was thanking my lucky stars that I had my camera in tow. I went to visit a dear friend and her sweet little boy proved to be quite the enthusiastic model. He's smart as a whip and has an amazing sense of humour - we had so much fun! I ended up getting some beautiful shots of this handsome boy - I hope his Mommy and Daddy are pleased!

silly snails

My friend Eric and I went tromping around the seashore in Lower Prospect a few days ago. Yes, there were grand vistas of crashing waves and beautiful skies to photograph - of which Eric took full advantage. But for some reason my eye turned towards to the small and slimy. Yes, kinda silly, I know. But look how amazing that snail is close-up! Fun! :)

sweet little ella

Today I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Ella, the sweetest little five-week-old baby. She's just starting to smile and is developing a curiosity for the world around her, it's amazing!

Ella was a perfectly behaved model, but I must admit that I fell short as her photographer. This is only my second time photographing such a wee one and I wasn't quite sure what to do. Having been the "baby" of my own family, I haven't had much exposure to kids. I'm looking forward to practicing (a lot) as Ella grows up - her poor Mommy is going to be sick of me! Thank-you for inviting me into your home today, I really enjoyed our visit!

I love this first picture. It looks like she's trying to piece together why she's naked on a bed with this big black camera in her face - so cute!

a picnic in the park

Today I was invited to a picnic in the park. I brought my camera but the mid-afternoon sun soon made me lazy and taking pictures slipped down my list of priorities. I did, however, get a few I thought are worth sharing. I hope they bring a smile to your face!

handsome jeremiah

Today I had my first photo shoot ever with a two year old. What did I learn? They're wiggly! But also, absolutely adorable and a delightful way to pass the afternoon. Jeremiah was so pleasant and so busy, racing his cars and digging in the dirt. I want to thank his parents for inviting me into their home and allowing me the pleasure of photographing Jeremiah. He is such a handsome little boy! I can't wait to do it again!

Today I arrived home after a particularly frustrating day of work as the last hour of daylight dwindled. I wearily opened the door to four birds flying off into the sunset and my heart couldn't help but smile. I was especially charmed by how the first number of my address was being reflected on the wall. I think the delicacy of the shadows and the peacefulness of the moment is most elegantly captured in black and white. I look at this photo and I feel, "Finally... I'm home."

pictures in the park

A few Tuesdays ago my friend Tasha and I had a photo shoot at the park up the street. I'm so pleased with how her pictures turned out... but I'm not surprised we got so many good shots working with such a beautiful model! Thanks for a really fun afternoon Tash... I hope you like them, you look gorgeous! xo.

rhianna's photo shoot

Before Rhianna and I hit the theatre today to see Up (a must-see for sure) we had a mini photo shoot in the back yard. She loves the camera and I love taking her picture so it works out well for both of us. After taking the first shot she told me her wish - that we would be best friends forever. I don't think that's going to be a problem! xo.

the cat lady

Meet Tango and Greg, quite possibly the two cutest cats I've ever met. Look how fierce Tango looks - mice beware!

love on parliment hill

While in Ottawa I was lucky enough to do a photo shoot with my friend Shivani and her husband Andrew. We had a lot of fun rambling around Parliament Hill camera in hand, despite the cold and windy day. Shivani and Andrew really got on board with setting up the photos and I'm pleased with how they turned out. It's wonderful to be able to capture a couple so obviously in love. Thanks for letting me take these pictures for you!

pretty in pink!

As promised, here are more pictures from my session with sweet Natalie Grace. I can't get over how adorable she looks swimming in a sea of pink... she is so cute! In the last one I think she was trying to tell me she'd had enough of my camera in her face. >:)

beautiful natalie grace

It's been a few days since I've last posted but I think you'll agree it was worth the wait. Please allow me to introduce you to six week old Natalie Grace.

I was a little nervous before this photo shoot because I've never taken pictures of such a small baby before. But little miss Natalie was all smiles and very patient with me - it was an absolute pleasure.

When I look at these photos I still can't believe I took them. Stay tuned for more from this session!
